"Where" was Avery's favorite word. She asked many questions. "Where are you?" "Where is my homework?" "Where is my hug?" "Where is my credit?" "Where is my sanity?" "Where is my hope?" "Where is my happiness?" "Where is my family?"

She was 7. When it all happened. A man found her house. It was made of wood. He had a match. Her house was gone. Seven years later, here she is now. New town.  New school. New friends. She has a job. A mostly empty house that she can barely pay the bills for.

Avery wants a hug. Avery wants revenge. Avery wants to ask her mom, for the millionth time, "Where is my hug?"
